11.11.19, Chiara Alberti & Madalena Pinto receive VBC PhD Awards
Congratulations to Chiara Alberti (Cochella Lab, IMP) and Madalena Pinto (Ameres Lab, IMBA) for winning two of the five VBC PhD Awards 2018/2019!
Chiara conducted her PhD studies in the lab of Luisa Cochella at IMP and successfully defended her PhD thesis “Dissecting the contribution of microRNAs to nervous system development and function in C. elegans“ in March 2019. Her work lead to the following paper published in Nature Methods: doi.org/10.1038/nmeth.4610
Madalena did her PhD supervised by Stefan Ameres at IMBA and successfully defended her PhD thesis “Molecular basis and biological functions of RNA 3′ end uridylation in Drosophila melanogaster” in October 2018. Her work in the Ameres lab was published, among others, in the EMBO Journal and Molecular Cell: doi.org/10.15252/embj.201695164 and 10.1016/j.molcel.2015.05.033
The VBC PhD Awards are granted annually to VBC postgraduates in acknowledgement of their outstanding PhD theses, selected by a jury of VBC group leaders. This year’s awards were presented at the VBC PhD Symposium “Re-Connect”
